Q-Tip Friday!!!!!

Needing to update that fireplace but don't want to spend $$$$$ to tile etc??? I have a quick fix for you... Paint it!!! (Small disclaimer: The color of my walls is a light yellow...idk why it photographs so ugly!!)

This is our before pic...it definitely needs something.

We chose to whitewash our fireplace. By whitewashing we could still allow some of the brick 'color' to show through and gives it more character.
What you'll need:
*Sherwin Williams latex cashmere paint with luster. We decided on the ivory color. You probably won't need a gallon but we got one to do other projects with etc.
*Paint brushes!
*Rags and more rags.
*A bucket to mix your paint and water in.

Step 1: Mr. Clean!!!
Vacuum that fireplace like crazy to remove dust and soot! (our wall color is LIGHT yellow. I am still tore up at how bad it photographs)

Step 2:
Mix your paint and your water. Make it a 50/50 mix.

Step 3: Get your paint on!!!
Paint your mixture on with a standard paintbrush but remove excess paint with a rag. Or if you just want it to look 'lighter' go over it with a rag right after painting it on. You'll go through many rags!

Step 4: You is so purrrrty.

Here it is!!! The difference it ridiculous!
